Laptops & iPads
- TCPS was the first school system in the State to provide a One-to-One laptop computer program for all high school students.
- Now in the tenth year the program has expanded into middle school and in 2015 will provide an individually assigned take-home laptop to every student in grades 6 through 12.
- Students and teachers can share lessons, readings, projects and assignments through FROG, our unique interactive student information system.
- Every student and parent can monitor academic progress, including individual assignments, through the web-based Parent Connect and Student Connect portholes into the school system’s Power School system.
- This accessibility is extended through all grades through laptops and tablets available in every elementary school classroom
The one to one laptop program has prepared students to enter a technology-saturated workplace, maintaining a level of economic competitiveness. As stated in the Johns Hopkins report, “The Talbot County Laptop program is a highly successful technology integration project, and an exemplary example of systemic change, that is providing opportunities for their students to not only compete but succeed in the 21st century.”

Every classroom is equipped with a Smart Board and projector to provide state-of-the-art visual and interactive instruction. These electronic whiteboards are interactive and great for demonstrations. Students enjoy an interactive Smart Board lesson because the subject comes alive and brings reality into the classroom. Smart Boards provide a means of learning for all students, including students with different learning styles. Most students learn by actually doing and physically interacting with a medium, so Smart Boards give students the opportunity to explore and manipulate concepts of a lesson. Students of every grade level show increased motivation and enjoy the interaction that the technology offers. The use of a Smart Board would capture the attention of students and also encourage participation.
TCPS has launched an exciting new web based software application called Naviance. This program is designed to help students in grades 6 through 12 become college and career ready by offering: career assessment and planning, personality inventories and questionnaires, curriculum/course selection, and college and scholarship research and matching.High School counselors work closely with parents and students so they understand the costs of a college education and provide access to essential scholarship resources using the tools offered by Naviance.
Using Naviance, students and parents are able to search local and national scholarships that correspond to their intended college major, ethnicity, gender, grade point average and much more!It enables schools to maintain their own scholarship databases from which students and parents can identify scholarship opportunities and track submission deadlines.
The Naviance scholarship tool streamlines the entire scholarship processeliminates the frustration of sorting through the entire scholarship database. It improves the chances that eligible students will complete the appropriate scholarship applications, and ultimately increase the scholarship dollars received by TCPS students.
